Fountains
Fountains have been around for quite a long time. The earliest known
fountain was a stepping fountain carved in stone. It was found in Babylon, in ruins
of a civilization thought to exist in 3000 BC.
Fountains were used by the Greeks as early as the 6th century BC, and were popular in
the Roman Empire as well.
Early fountains were used for both drinking water supply lines, and for tranquility
effects in gardens.
They are one of the few things that have not changed much in thousands of years, but
what is there to improve upon?
The flowing, bubbling effect helps to oxygenate water.
We know that oxygenated water aids in keeping our body's alkaline levels in balance.
Did you know that cancer can not survive in oxygen rich environments.
Could drinking from a fountain prevent or cure cancer?
I'm sure it would be better for you than drinking from a plastic bottle that has been
sitting in the sun,
leeching toxins into the water.
As far as tranquility goes, what could be added or subtracted from the sounds of babbling
water, that could make it more soothing?
There are endless varieties of tones, pitches, and volume levels, that can be
created, as well as visual displays, but in the end, the concept of creating a
soothing sound using the flow of water, has remained unchanged for thousands of
years.
